  • Implementing the National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for Elementary Physical Education

Shirley Holt Hale and studentLearn how to better understand and apply SHAPE America's National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes. This workshop includes information on curriculum design and assessment of student learning in elementary physical education. Through both cognitive and psychomotor engagement, workshop participants will experience the grade-level outcomes leading to mature patterns of skill execution and their application in gymnastics, dance and games environments.

Presenter: Shirley Holt/Hale, Ph.D.
Holt/Hale is a former president of AAHPERD (now SHAPE America) and the recipient of numerous national awards for professional excellence and service. She is also co-author of several books, including Lesson Planning for Elementary Physical Education and National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes for K-12 Physical Education.

Bring your own lunch and listen to an update on the new Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This recently passed legislation identifies school health and physical education as part of a student's "well-rounded education." Find out how to ensure that health and physical education are included in the state's ESSA implementation plan.
