Important Information Regarding Nu Delta Alpha

As of January 2016 Nu Delta Alpha is no longer a functioning honor society within SHAPE America. To ensure that all our chapters have a new home, we have worked closely with National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) to ensure a smooth transition and encourage you to apply to become a chapter of the NDEO Honor Society. SHAPE America will continue to focus on delivering high-quality dance education resources and professional development as a part of physical education, while NDEO will meet the operational needs of a national honor society supporting dance education as an art form.

The National Honor Society for Dance Arts™(NHSDA) is one of the most exciting benefits that NDEO offers its K-12, Dance Studio, Performing Arts Organizations, and Higher Ed Institutional Members. NHSDA serves as a platform for recognizing artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in dance students throughout their educational career. The Secondary Program (grades 9-12) was implemented in 2005. The Collegiate Program was implemented in 2012, and a Junior Program (grades 6-8) was separated out from the Secondary Program and officially launched in 2016. To date, there are close to 400 chapters in the US and almost 3,000 students have been inducted since 2013.

NDEO welcomes former NDA Chapters to join NDEO with an Institutional Membership and establish a Chapter of NHSDA at your institution! You can learn more about NHSDA by visiting www.nhsda-ndeo.org, or by emailing nhsda@ndeo.org.
