Be a Part of the Action at #SHAPEKC!

We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring #SHAPEKC to life! It takes a passionate crew to power an event of this size — and each year, we rely on 100+ volunteers to make it all happen. Now’s your chance to be part of the energy, the excitement, and the impact!

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering is a great opportunity to meet and network with other attendees. PLUS, #SHAPEKC volunteers get exclusive perks!

In exchange for serving six (6) volunteer hours before, during and/or after the event (during self-selected timeslots from March 16 - 21, 2026), individuals selected as volunteers will receive:

  • $150 off Professional registration or $120 off Student registration*;
  • A free #SHAPEKC volunteer T-shirt;
  • $10 merchandise voucher to use at the SHAPE America exhibit booth; and
  • One complimentary drink ticket for the Opening Celebration.

*Individuals selected as volunteers will receive a promo code to reduce their registration fee. Professional volunteers using the $150 discount must book their hotel room within our official housing block for the discount to be applied. This requirement does not apply to students and volunteers who live within the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.

Volunteer Roles

Based on your time availability, SHAPE America staff will assign you to one or more of the following volunteer roles:

  • Session Room Monitor: Greeting speakers, ensuring AV/equipment is set, reporting any issues to SHAPE America staff, and providing an estimated attendance for assigned rooms/sessions.
  • Equipment Room Assistant: Organizing, delivering and retrieving activity equipment for all activity sessions.
  • Session Materials Prep: Stuffing attendee bags with inserts, ensuring all handouts are dropped on seats at major events like the Opening General Session and Closing General Session, lectures, etc.
  • Attendee Greeter and Registration Assistant: Greeting attendees as they enter the facility and directing them to the appropriate registration booth and/or the Assistance Hub.
  • Exhibitor Demo Support: Greeting exhibitors and assisting them with setup/dismantling of their demos in the exhibit hall at the scheduled time.
  • SHAPE America Booth Assistant: Help organize, restock, and process transactions at the SHAPE America store in the exhibit hall.

If you are interested in volunteering at #SHAPEKC, fill out the appropriate interest form. Volunteer opportunities are limited — so don’t wait!

Both individuals and groups can submit an interest form. University faculty members are encouraged to submit an interest form for a group of their students.

All participants will receive follow-up regardless of selection status. We select volunteers on a rolling basis, with the notification process beginning in January.

 

While we appreciate everyone’s interest in helping to ensure the success of #SHAPEKC, priority will be given to college and university students as well as early-career professionals who are eager to get involved, build connections, and grow professionally. Attendees affiliated with our state partner MOSHAPE will also be guaranteed dedicated volunteer slots.

Individuals who do not fall within these designated categories may still be considered to fulfill additional volunteer needs as they arise, so please complete the form if you are interested!
