We are excited to announce that SHAPE Florida will be offering FREE professional development workshops this summer to current members. The half-day workshops will include state updates as well as a three-hour OPEN training. Teachers can choose to attend Landmark Middle School in Jacksonville on June 6 or Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School in Largo on June 7. Non-members can attend for $60, and that price includes one year of professional membership.

The Florida Department of Education will once again host their annual Healthy Schools Summer Academy on June 13-14 at George Jenkins High School in Lakeland. Academy sessions will include information and resources focusing on Florida standards, safe and supportive environments, sexual health education, school connectedness, nutrition, tobacco prevention education, physical education assessments, and youth risk behavior survey (YRBS).

Dr. Daniel Drost will facilitate the “Educating Today for an Active Tomorrow” convention, October 28-30, at the Embassy Suites Lake Buena Vista South.
