Bring PE to Your Family Week

SHAPE America is proud to support Active Schools' Bring PE to Your Family Week  with free health and physical education resources for you to share with your parents to ensure a healthy and active home.  Please encourage your students to invite their families to participate October 19-23, and to conduct their PE lesson at any time.

In physical education class, teachers base lessons on the National Standards for K–12 Physical Education to teach kids how to enjoy a lifetime of physical activity.

Effective physical education programs provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice the social and emotional skills and behaviors that help them succeed in life.

SHAPE America's health. moves. minds.® program  teaches kids the skills that can help them enjoy physical activity and learn to manage their emotions, problem solve, make responsible decisions, maintain positive friendships, and more.

Start with a warm-up activity! Grab a basketball and get started with Jr. NBA 

  • JR. NBA AT HOMEAn interactive content series  basketball skills and drills featuring NBA and WNBA players that can be completed individually and in limited space.
  • JR. NBA Grades K-2 Videos: Engages kids in activities that form a foundation of motor skills through skills practice.
  • JR. NBA Grades 3-5 Videos: Helps kids develop an extended base of fundamental motor skills through practice, while having fun.

PE at Home Tennis Guide

No tennis balls or racquets at home? No problem! The USTA Schools team has created a PE at Home Tennis Guide that helps support the SHAPE America School Reentry Considerations for physical education. Check out the guide and resources below!

 

SHAPE America's service-learning program,  called health. moves. minds. helps teach all children how to cope with stress, bullying, and the societal pressures that can negatively affect their daily lives.

In addition to education and service, this new program can also be used to raise funds for your school’s health and physical education program and initiatives. Talk to your health and physical education teacher to learn how your child can benefit!
