RESTON, VA, September 19, 2018 – Skillastics® and SHAPE America – Society of Health and Physical Educators are once again partnering for the 2nd Annual Skillastics® Physical Activity Grants Program. Skillastics® will award five grants to elementary, middle and/or secondary health and physical educators totaling $10,000. Each grant will provide up to $1,000 of Skillastics® products and up to $1,000 for the educator to attend the 2019 SHAPE America National Convention & Expo in Tampa, FL on April 9-13, 2019. For grant recipients that are not currently SHAPE America members, the Convention registration will include a complimentary one-year SHAPE America Select Professional membership.

Last year’s grant recipients included: Moira Brookshire (Hudson Elementary, Hudson, SC), Trena Jayne (Hamlin Middle, Springfield, OR), Michael Lansdowne (Hutchison Farm Elementary, Chantilly, VA), Christy Scott (Elm Grove Elementary, Elm Grove, LA), and Sara Wood (Elias Howe Elementary-PS 51, New York, NY).

According to Sandy “Spin” Slade, founder and chief executive officer of Skillastics®, “We are excited to be partnering once again with SHAPE America to celebrate Skillastics as a powerful large group resource and the SHAPE America National Convention & Expo. Both organizations are committed to getting children on the path to health and physical literacy.”

Grantees will be selected based on their efforts to develop and implement a Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP). To learn more about the guidelines and criteria, visit Skillastics website.

The deadline to submit the grant application to [email protected] is midnight (PDT) on October 31, 2018. Those applicants that meet the specified eligibility requirements will be reviewed by a panel of Skillastics management personnel and rated based on the commitments outlined to support CSPAP. Grant recipients will be announced on December 3, 2018.
