National PE & Sport Week May 1 through 7 #MoveInMay

National Physical Education & Sport Week

National PE & Sport Week is an annual celebration of the importance of physical education and health education, in addition to kicking off National Physical Fitness and Sports Month.

Engaging in physical education helps students develop essential motor skills, personal and social skills, and core character values such as resilience, fairness and respect.

During National PE & Health Week, we encourage health and physical educators to use this week to advocate by educating parents and the community about the importance of health and physical education, and to celebrate their programs.

If you are a health and physical education teacher — thanks for all you do!

Let's advocate and celebrate during National PE & Sport Week every year!

  • Invite parents to visit your PE classes this week (use this Save the Date flyer)!
  • Add May 1-7, 2026, to your calendar and plan to hold your school’s field day during National PE & Sport Week next year!
