Artie Kamiya

Jamie Sparks

Coordinated School Health Director
Kentucky Department of Education

If selected to be president-elect, I would like to contribute through my past experiences in private business and K-12 public school service. SHAPE America has made significant changes recently in terms of the commitment of 50 Million Strong, connecting with grassroots educators via social media, and the advocacy of our profession. I am positive about our future and would like to make meaningful contributions where possible!

- Artie Kamiya

The most important leadership quality that will assist me as president-elect of SHAPE America is my complete passion for our profession. I am unapologetic in my belief that health education and physical education are the two most important subject areas for all students in every school. I believe the vision of 50 Million Strong is simple: to make health education and physical education just like reading and math — subjects that all students get every day throughout their entire school experience!
