SHAPE America’s Emerging Leaders Innovation Team (ELIT) provides emerging leaders an opportunity to contribute as
volunteer leaders to the health and physical education community. Members of the Emerging Leaders Innovation Team
are invited to help develop content (such as blogs, podcasts, and other resources), engage at conferences or SHAPE
sponsored events, and contribute in other meaningful ways to the development of SHAPE America’s professional
development offerings.
Additionally, ELIT contributes to SHAPE America’s various communications channels, including
the organization’s blog, social media channels, and podcast platform. The group is also invited to provide feedback
to the development of SHAPE America programming to help inform thinking about how best to attract and engage
emerging leaders to the SHAPE community.
SHAPE America ELIT member criteria:
- SHAPE America members
- Students in an HPE discipline, are PreK-12 HPE teachers or higher-ed professionals early in their career
- Between ages 18 – 35
- Demonstrate a commitment to improving the HPE community
Roles and Responsibilities
- Members serve two-year terms
- Expectation of 5–10 hours per month contributing as a volunteer leader
- One hour per month on SHAPE America calls or video chat
- Serve as a champion for SHAPE America’s mission and current initiatives
